Devin Knight has raised the bar again. This time on book tests. What you are about to read is what some consider as one of the most incredible book tests ever devised. It has the potential to fool some of the most savvy mentalists with its ingenious technique. It offers a new killer ending not normally seen in any test of this type. Read on. The effect reads completely impossible but every word is true!

HERE IS WHAT THE AUDIENCE SEES:

Mentalist states that before the show he gave a dictionary to a lady in the audience. He states he had her secretly open the dictionary to any page and circle a word with a red crayon. She was to make a note of the page and to seal the dictionary inside a large office envelope. She was to allow nobody else to touch it.

During the show he has the lady stand and show the package. She verifies it hasn't left her side, and that nobody has touched it. To ensure no stooges are used the lady is asked to choose ANY TWO random people from the audience. She hands the package to either one of them and both spectators come on stage to assist. Performer stresses that at NO TIME will he touch the dictionary sealed in the package.

A novel is shown to be quite ordinary. The performer states he wants a random page and flips thru the book and invites the spectator to say stop while he looks away. Wherever they say stop the opened book is given to them. This is all done with the performer looking away and NO PAGE NUMBER is called out.

The first spectator starts reading and with no questions or fishing, you instantly start telling the person what they are reading WITH YOUR BACK TURNED. You say you will try something even more difficult. Have the person read the next sentence to himself and select any object he can visualize in his mind. He has more than one choice. Tell him to picture it in his mind even if the book has no description of the object.

Again with no fishing, you instantly begin describing IN DETAIL the object the person is thinking of. Yes, telling him correctly the way he is seeing the object in his mind, even though there is no description in the book. You are 100% correct again. Remember your back is still turned.

The best is yet to come, you ask the person to count the words on the top line of the page, say he says 10. This is so the audience knows he has more than 2 or 3 words to choose from. Ask him to point to any word and call it out. NO FORCE of any kind, he just calls out a word from the line.

The person holding the package is asked to open it and remove the dictionary. The performer stresses he does NOT want to touch the dictionary at any time. There is a note in package along with the dictionary, it tells what page she circled a word on. The lady (not the magician)turns to that page in the dictionary. She finds one word circled. She is asked to look thru the dictionary and see if any other words are marked. There are no other marks. She is asked to show the circled word to the audience and tell everyone what the word is. Believe it or not it is the same word the first person just called out!
